Thanks, Give me

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on November 26th, 2008

It’s that time: holiday cheer, the sound of sleigh bells, and buy buy buy our way into happiness. Yes Thanksgiving is a day to remember the many blessings that have been given to us; our life, family, our jobs, and our eternal salvation hidden in Jesus. We have so much to be thankful for, yet as thanksgiving presents itself, many homes are planning how they can chime in on the holiday sales, beating others to the stores, gaining the best bargains on that new TV, or gathering all the videos they can at that all time low price, and the attitude that fills the malls; well its an attitude that’s everything but an attitude of thankfulness.

Honking horns and  cursing can be heard in the shopping mall parking lots, cutting in line, shoving and pushing is found on the inside of the stores across the nation, and the thankfulness found on that day; well I guess it only lasts until the turkey has begun to digest. We find people uptight, and stressed, neglecting to take a moment to remember what the Lord has done in their lives. Listen scripture says in the book of Hebrews 13:5

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said; “never will I leave you never will I forsake you. So we can say with confidence, the Lord is my helper, I can not be afraid what can man do to me?

I encourage you; take your time remembering what the Lord has done for you this year. The year may have presented its trials, you may have had to endure some tribulations, but be encouraged by the fact that God, the God who created you, loves you, and will never leave you abandoned. So when you’re out doing your holiday shopping, remember the greates gift that has been given to you, is not only priceless, but it’s free; so give it away; the love of Jesus Christ.

Invading My Space

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on November 20th, 2008

Do you know anyone who is a member of the online social community MySpace? Yes the world has locked themselves behind closed doors, spending much of their time on my space developing relationships with voiceless, faceless, megabyte friends, with the hopes of gathering as many friends as they possibly can. These are friends that they may never see, friends that will never truly be there for them, and a friend that can be easily erased at the push of a delete button on the keyboard.

Yes many of us have found ourselves with the door closed to our room, locking the world out so we can spend time discussing our problems with megabyte friends, and listening to the advice given by satellite television entities; we’re panting and searching, hoping to find someone, anyone, something, somewhere to give us some help…. STOP!!!

Jesus tells us that He desires for us to enter our room, close the doors and spend time with him in prayer. God wants to have one on one fellowship with you and I. But have we not realized that the world has filled our space with it’s temporary remedies to happiness. The place that was to be set aside for you and the Lord, has been replaced. The closet that you used to pray in, the Bible that you used to read; all replaced. Meanwhile the God of the universe stands outside of the door with one desire; to invade yours and my space so He can fulfill our life. I encourage you, shut off the computer, go into your room, and spend some time with the Lord. He truly wants to be your friend forever.

Disoriented in the Dark

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on November 12th, 2008

Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night disoriented, unsure of where you are, and in some cases unsure of who you are. The other night I found my self waking up in a panic around 3:00 in the morning. The room was dark, but that didn’t stop me from getting up, and frantically looking throughout my home for my baby whom I thought was lost somewhere in the house. I had to look at the Clock and convince myself that it was late and the baby was asleep, but while lurking through the halls of my dark house my foot caught the corner of the couch and OUCH!!!  Jeez, first I’m disoriented, and then in pain, this night is turning out just great. Finally I turned on the light, and realized, the toys had been put away, the house was quiet, and my family was safely asleep.

you know, there are times when we’re lurking around in life with feelings of disorientation, unsure of where we are, who we are, and even where we’re going. And just when we think we’ve got it all figured out, life throws us some blows knocking us to the ground, which leaves us wondering…Why? Listen we need to stop assuming that we’ve got it all figured out, and allow the light of Jesus to shine on our life.

Proverbs 3:5 says:   Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

So listen if you’ve found yourself to be disoriented in life, rely on the Lord, allow Him to direct your steps, and not only will you avoid a nasty fall, but God will lead you blessing on earth, and ultimately to an eternal life.

Lost in the Desert

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on November 6th, 2008

Have you ever found yourself lost? A few years back I was driving from Ohio to California, and somehow I became lost in the middle of the desert. There were no signs, and no rest stops, and when the four lane Highway I was on became a two lane highway, I became a little frantic. But the majority of my fear came when this paved road turned into an all dirt road, this is when I knew I was lost.

I noticed that the tumble weeds appeared much bigger, the Joshua trees and cactus appeared to be laughing at me, and the gas tank needle; yep I was nearing the last of my fuel reserve. I thought my journey had ended, I began curling myself into the fetal position so I could cry, But Thankfully that was unnecessary. A few minutes later I ran into a fellow who was able guide my way out of the desert, and why? Because he knew the area, he knew the terrain, he knew something I didn’t know; how to get back on track.

You know sometimes  life may feel like we have wondered into an uncharted desert terrain of life, we can easily feel lost at times, unsure of what to do in life; so where do we turn when the road is narrowing? Scripture says in the book of James 1:5 if any man lacks wisdom let him ask of God, who gives openly. That’s right, if you’ve found yourself to be wondering the desert, hopeless, and aimless, call on the lord who has the wisdom to help you find hope, and life again; and why? Because like my friend in the desert, God knows the area of your life, he knows where you are, and He know how to get you back on track; ultimately God wants you to find your way home.
