The Candy Wrapper

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on February 19th, 2009

Have you ever looked at another person’s talents, gifts, and ministry; desiring to have the same in your life? Many times we see others doing so many great and wonderful things with their life, and because we are so impressed, we pursue the same things in our life. However we find one vital element is missing; the talent, the gift, and the calling. It’s easy to want a gift that someone else has, but in coveting others gifts are we neglecting our own calling in the meant time?

1 Timothy says not to neglect the gift that is in you

Ephesians 2:10 says that we are Gods workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.

So listen, I encourage you to take a good hard look at yourselves in the mirror, and spend some time in your prayer closet recognizing the gifts, talents, and calling that God has on your life, and you’ll see that you don’t have to use another’s gifts to be pleasing to the Lord, and to bless His heart. But God has created you with purpose, and talent of your own; so go live it out loud.

Terror in the sky Video-Part 2

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on February 13th, 2009

This is a video of my brother Matt Prainito (Christian Music Artist) and myself using our Private Pilot Licence on a beautiful Southern California morning. I went a bit crazy with the captions, but I hope you enjoy it just the same. The title question from Part 1 was, can Matt land the Plane-or will I have to take over? This will answer that question …. Lots of fun, and if you’re interested in flying then you’ll watch this again and again.

If you have a video iPod or mp4 device than this can be uploaded via iTunes.

This is part 2 of 2

How Rude

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on February 6th, 2009

I’ve noticed that there are two kinds of people who usually attend the movie theatre; the one who doesn’t care if they disturb others, and then there’s the one who gets really irritated by them. Chomping popcorn, opening plastic packages, and cell phone calls during a movie can really get under someone’s skin, but likewise yelling and picking fights as a result can equally pose a problem. I know I know, you’re wondering where I’m going with this. Listen, as Christians we’re to be courteous and loving to those around us. We’re to shine a love that is long suffering, a love that is patient. But a bad experience in a public place, like a movie theartre, may very well test your love and courtesy for others.

Titus 3:2 says to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate and show true humility toward all men.

So listen, next time you feel the need to slurp, crunch, and belch loudly in the theater, think first about those around you. And to those of you who would really like to pick a fight with those who are inconsiderate; slow down and think about the God in whom you represent. We need to demonstrate Christ’s love wherever we’re at; even in the movie theater.

Throw The Book at em’

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on January 30th, 2009

This week I had the wonderful opportunity to serve my country through Jury Duty. Like most who receive this notice to appear I tried to reason how I might be able to escape the clinches of this task, but no dice… One whole day was spent sitting…waiting…sitting…waiting…and-well the same thing over again. But soon enough my name was called to enter the court with the other potential Jurors. The judge then asked if anyone had a reason why they shouldn’t be on the trial. This was when a man sitting a few rows form me stood up and said, “Your honor, no disrespect intended to you, but God is the only one who can judge, and you are not God. Your honor, In my eyes, that man is not guilty”. The Judge’s response “Your excused Juror”.

As I sat there and listened to this man pass a quick judgment of innocence. I couldn’t help but think “How Clever”. But as is continued to sit….wait….sit….wait I began to ponder what the Lord had done for me. For with my many sins, that has brought me to sit in the defendants seat many times. I Thank God for his grace, and mercy. Because when I should have been cast into captivity, Jesus stood up proclaimed innocence and took my sins, and the judgment for those sins upon Himself, so I can have freedom in Christ.

John 8:36 says, when the Son has set you free, you are free indeed

So listen, if You’ve found yourself to be sitting in the Defendants seat waiting for your judgment; hoping that someone will stand up for you, then you can rest easy. The Lord has set you free, and you’re free to go, and live in freedom for the Lord.

Mind Your Own Business

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on January 23rd, 2009

Have you ever had someone speak negatively about you?  have you listened as others have laughed at your circumstances, and have voiced that they’ve got all the answers when in reality, they’re just busy bodies finding themselves a little too wrapped up in the lives of others. Yes many of us have experienced the “he said, she said” kind of conversations. Truth is, we’ve all been found guilty of speaking behind others backs, and spreading rumors. Yes it’s a web of lies that is weaved by those who honestly have nothing better to do. I just wish that scripture had something to say about this; oh wait, it does:

1 Thessalonians 4:11 Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders.

So listen, if you’ve kept your gums flapping behind others back, let me quote scripture “Mind Your Own Business”. In doing so you’ll be more respectable to others, more trustworthy to your friends, and a better representation of the love of Jesus Christ.

My Reset Button

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on January 13th, 2009

Like many people I Love electronics; laptops, cell phones, and anything that falls into the category of gadgets. But I’ve noticed that many gadgets fail; they begin to develop a mind of their own, doing things they weren’t created to do, doing things I don’t want it to do, and even freezing up and doing nothing at all. It’s at this time. that I resort to hitting the machine, and I’ve even been tempted to throw the gadget across the room. But in the midst of all of this I have to remind myself; I do have an allie, a friend who knows just what to do…. I’m referring to the Reset Button. This button helps me get my gadget back on track, and working the way it was designed to work, the way I need it to work.

Well in the same way, we need take action when the lines of our life have been crossed, when we are living contrary to the way that we were created to live. Yep you got it; we need to learn to press the reset button of our lives; abandoning our selfish pursuits, and reaching for an eternal prize.

Philippines 3:13-14 brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

So listen, if you’ve found yourself to be living life contrary to the way that you were created to live, don’t beat yourself up, and don’t give up, You have an allie in the Lord who would love to help you reset your life. So I encourage you to dedicate all that you do to the Lord. And you can be sure that you’ll be functioning the way that you were created to live in no time. The night before Christmas

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on December 24th, 2008

Do you remember those days of gathering around the fire, and reading the famous book Twas the night before Christmas? We remember the reindeer, and Santa Clause, the stockings ready for a fill up, and presents that fill the tree with shiny paper ready to be ripped apart. But in the Midst of all of this, have we forgotten the real reason for Christmas? Have we forgotten what God did one night in the manger with one woman, who gave birth to a baby, that one day she herself would call Lord? Listen to this Podcast and hear the story of Why we celebrate Christmas Day…

Twas the night before Christmas

Joseph and Mary on the Run

Knowing King Herod wanted the head of their son,

They came to the inn, there weren’t rooms anymore

Not a bed, not a cot, not room on the floor.

Mary went out to the fields with the cows and the horses

She gave birth to our savior all heaven rejoices.

Joseph arrived and said “what did I miss”

But when he saw baby Jesus he offered a kiss.

A star brightly shines for the world to see

Is God saying I now unite you unto me.

Believe in my son and you’ll never die,

Draw near unto me and to you I’ll draw nigh.

God said anything you ask in Jesus name you’ll receive,

Give love unto others and you’ve done t for me.

Though Santa is jolly and places gifts under your tree

My gifts will not perish if you live unto me.

So remember this Christmas to keep Jesus your sight.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good LIFE!

Designer Clothing

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on December 17th, 2008

All of us have daily routine. We wake up to the sound of an annoying alarm clock, and then crawl out of our beds to get ready for the day. After getting ready (while still half asleep) we drag ourselves out the door of our homes, and through the door of the office, the classroom, or to whatever occupies our daily life. Though most of our days may differ from one another, there is one thing that many of us have in common; and that’s getting ourselves ready for the day.

For some odd reason we don’t want the world to see us the way that we look in the morning. We think that the bed head and bad breath may scare the sun away, so we stay indoors, under protective covering, where nobody will see us until we’ve completed the process of frosting ourselves. First up a new hairstyle, then we brush our teeth, put on whatever fragrant cologne will best suit our day, and then dress ourselves with clothes that will best represent ourselves to whomever, wherever we may go. but let me ask you; in your quest of getting dressed to best represent yourself to the world, have you neglected to clothe yourself with what represents Jesus in you?

Collosians 3:12 says… Therefore, as Gods chosen people, holy and dearly beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with eachother and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all of these virtues put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity.

So listen, if you’ve found yourself to spend countless hours getting ready to show off who you are, I encourage you to clothe yourself with the virtues that will bless others, bless the heart of the Lord, and emulate the love of Jesus to the world.

King Me

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on December 3rd, 2008

Do you remember when we were kids, dreaming about what our life would become? We dreamt about the home that we would reside in, the spouse that we would marry, and the career’s that would occupy each day of our lives until retirement. Yes we dreamt about our own kingdom which sat on our own land, where anything was possible, and why not, we would be the King; the Lord of our own palace, in charge of our own destiny.

When we were young these childlike dreams were innocent, cute even, but as we’ve gotten older it seems that many of us have continued with the same mindset; lording over our lives, reigning in our own Kingdoms, chasing and pursuing the riches and wealth of the world. But let’s be honest, it’s easy to do; we all want to be successful and prosperous, we all want to lead healthy and happy lives. But let me ask you, is it possible that while we’ve been eagerly building a temporary Kingdom of our own on earth, we’ve been willingly neglecting the eternal Kingdom of God.

Matthew 6:33 seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Yet still we live like we’re a checker on a Checker board desperately wanting to be crowned wo that we can move about this life as we please.

I encourage you, takeoff the crown that you’ve placed on your own head, and allow the King of Kings to Lord your life. Seek to please him, and all these things will be added to your life from His Kingdom, and you’ll see that, these good things that the Lord wants to give you, are indeed from a kingdom that is out of this world.

Thanks, Give me

Posted in Religion & Spirituality: Christianity by joeprainito on November 26th, 2008

It’s that time: holiday cheer, the sound of sleigh bells, and buy buy buy our way into happiness. Yes Thanksgiving is a day to remember the many blessings that have been given to us; our life, family, our jobs, and our eternal salvation hidden in Jesus. We have so much to be thankful for, yet as thanksgiving presents itself, many homes are planning how they can chime in on the holiday sales, beating others to the stores, gaining the best bargains on that new TV, or gathering all the videos they can at that all time low price, and the attitude that fills the malls; well its an attitude that’s everything but an attitude of thankfulness.

Honking horns and  cursing can be heard in the shopping mall parking lots, cutting in line, shoving and pushing is found on the inside of the stores across the nation, and the thankfulness found on that day; well I guess it only lasts until the turkey has begun to digest. We find people uptight, and stressed, neglecting to take a moment to remember what the Lord has done in their lives. Listen scripture says in the book of Hebrews 13:5

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said; “never will I leave you never will I forsake you. So we can say with confidence, the Lord is my helper, I can not be afraid what can man do to me?

I encourage you; take your time remembering what the Lord has done for you this year. The year may have presented its trials, you may have had to endure some tribulations, but be encouraged by the fact that God, the God who created you, loves you, and will never leave you abandoned. So when you’re out doing your holiday shopping, remember the greates gift that has been given to you, is not only priceless, but it’s free; so give it away; the love of Jesus Christ.
